Obituary

"Shawty" as he was affectionately known, began this life's pilgrimage journey on November 28, 1973, as Gary Jefferies, Jr. He was born to Deloris Davis and Gary Jefferies, Sr., in Miami, Florida. He grew up under the watchful eyes of his "Dad", which is what he affectionately called his daddy, Mr. John E. Bolden, Sr.

He confessed and accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was just a lad at Union Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Bible Bowl boy. Even though thirty years or more passed, he still remembered the songs and scriptures he learned which led him to accept Jesus.

His early education began at Mock Road Elementary School, then on to Southside Junior High School and later to Westover High school. He received his GED in 1995. He later attended Albany Technical College where he received a certificate in both Basic Structural Steel Welding and Gas Metal Arc Welding in 2005.

Gary's first job was at Cagles in Camilla, Georgia. He went from there to Flint River Services and ACC Distribution, working as a Fork Lift Operator on both jobs. He also worked at Checkers fast food restaurant. Gary loved grilling and making people happy. He was a number one cook whose love for cooking led him to prepare many savory dishes. He was well known for his excellent skills in grilling. Shawty also loved playing cards. However, during the last few weeks of his life, he was consumed with the book of Revelations. He wanted everybody to know that the world was coming to an end and we need to get ready. He told everyone he knew to read the book of Revelations. He told his mother and his Aunt Harriett about it and tried to tell everyone to get ready because we are living in the last days. He said that Jesus is warning us now to be ready. It was amazing that this was on his mind and how soon his own world came to an end.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Sarah Bruton and one nephew, Kipp Marquel Ross.

Gary leaves to cherish fond memories his parents, Deloris Davis Bolden and John E. Bolden, Sr., of Albany, GA; his biological father, Gary Jefferies, Sr. of Queens, NY; one son, LaQuavion J. Jefferies, maternal grandmother, Lucy Fowler, of Atlanta, GA; siblings, Lenita Davis Pierre, John E. (Bessie) Bolden, Jr., Alexandria "Zandy" N. Bolden, Kristy M. (LaShunta) Mitchell, and Shawanna Guest; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; three very special friends, Artavious "Pokie" Williams, Montaya "Pumpkin" Tolson, and Yolanda S. Nix; and many other sorrowing relatives and friends.
