Obituary

Gary Anderson, Sr. was born in Albany, Georgia on December 10, 1946.  He was the son of the late Tom and Mozzie Lee Anderson.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County, graduating from Monroe High School.  Gary continued his education at Albany Technical College where he completed the requirements to earn his Commercial Driver's License (CDL).  His keen interest in "big rigs" and his educational training launched his life-long professional career in the transportation industry.  As an over-the-road transportation specialist for various trucing companies, Gary traveled throughout the Country delivering manufactured products, services, and goods in a timely manner.  He took pride in his driving skills and drove thousands of miles accident free.  He retired in 1996, after a very exciting and gratifying career.

Gary was a very outgoing person who garnered much from his life experiences.  He took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with his family and friends, and to savor the beauty of life.  He had an engaging personality, a gigantic heart, a very welcoming spirit, and he enjoyed having fun.  The strong bonds of friendship that he developed throughout his life will long be remembered and cherished.

On Thursday, July 4, 2019, Gary departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Justine Anderson Sherman; his uncle, Lovie Dean Pittman; and a nephew, Maurice Sherman.

He leaves a lifetime of memories that will forever be cherished by his sons, Gary (Hope) Anderson, Jr., Delrick Anderson (Lawanda Green), and Duane (Wanda) Anderson; his sister, Nadine (Freddie) Key; niece and nephews, Tasha Sherman, Tarus Moore, and David Sherman, Jr.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grand-children; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
