Gene Roberts, beloved son of the late Jerry and Tommie Roberts, was born in Webster County, Georgia on May 9, 1947.

During the primary years of his life, he attended school in Webster County.   completed his secondary education in the Dougherty County School System.

From a very young age, Gene was nurtured in the Word of God.  As a youth, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Kimbley, Georgia under the leadership of Reverend A. C. Kelley.

Gene was a conscientious, hardworking father and grandfather who took great care in providing for the needs of his family.  Having acquired many valuable technical skills during school that prepared him for the workforce, Gene worked at Sellers Tile Company for 45 years.  He was a loyal, dedicated employee who tackled every task with equal importance and gave his BEST until his retirement.

Simply a joy to everyone around him, Gene's presence was a gift, as was his fierce love for family, friends, and community.  His life was full of great stories that he shared often shared with his buddies at the lawnmower shop on Clark Avenue or at the race track.   Although his health was compromised later in life, that did not affect the love that he had for his family and friends.  He was quite possibly the best father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend anyone could ever hope for and he wanted them to know just how much he cared for them.   He will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, Gene peacefully transitioned to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved companion, Iona Harris Moses; his grandson, David Roberts; and three brothers, Wilson Roberts, Otis Roberts, and Jerry Roberts, III.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of his children, Woody (Laura) Roberts of Rochester, NY, Tawanna Moses of Evans, GA, Tundra Roberts of Albany, GA, and Tiffany (Tory) Hawkins of Cleveland, TN; siblings, Rubye Roberts, Geraldine Roberts, and Nathaniel (Eloise) Roberts all of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Woody Roberts, Jr., Azelle Roberts, Nathaniel Roberts, Jahleeya Roberts, Jahlil Roberts, Hazel Roberts, Jocelyn Bour, Ty'Asia Mango, Ta'Nasia Shazer, Trenkavious Roberts, Torianna Hawkins, Tory Hawkins, Jr., Ty'Shaun Hawkins, and Cayden Jackson; great grandchildren, Kanye Roberts and Lyrica Roberts; mother-in-law, Eva Louis Harris; sisters-in-law, Tamika Douglas, Mary Roberts  of Atlanta, and Mary Roberts of California; brothers-in-law, James Harris, Jr. and Jerry (Andrea) Harris; a host of cousins; caregivers, Deann King, Sara Washington, Bobby Phillips and Glenn Walker; and his boss/special friend, Rodney Fickel.
