Genie W. Jenkins was born in Albany, Georgia on October 1, 1941, to the late Ellen Gary and Peter Brown.

During the early years of her life, she attended the public schools of Dougherty County. After moving to Peekskill, New York, she continued her education and graduated from Peekskill High School having participated in numerous school activities and events.

At a very early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

On November 16, 1968, she was united in holy matrimony to Ulysses Jenkins, II and they were blessed with a loving and caring family. Genie worked tirelessly through the years as a homemaker and domestic worker to ensure the well-being of her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother whose gentle, compassionate nature and willingness to do anything for family earned her the title of "super wife and super mom."

Genie lived a full and enjoyable life. She was one of those rare people who always had the interests of others at heart. She was a doting grandmother who dearly loved her grandchildren, and an incredible friend who will be missed by her loved ones. She will long be remembered for her smile, strength, and humble spirit.

On Monday, April 30, 2018, Genie quietly transitioned to her eternal home.

She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish loving memories her devoted husband, Ulysses Jenkins, II; three children, Glenn (Stacy) Walker, Ulysses Jenkins, and Ida Jenkins Hewett of Albany, GA; seven grandchildren, Porcha, Kentavious, Jaleesa, Quanisha, Ty'Shinna, Christopher, and Edward all of Albany, GA; one great grandchild, Adonis of Albany, GA; brother, Robert (Diane) Gary of Putney, GA; two godchildren, Jason Lowe and Eric Green, Sr. of Albany, GA; a special friend who was like a sister, Lutricia "Tina" Ball; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
