Obituary

George Dixon, son of the late Ezell Hal, Sr. and Eva Mae Nelson, was born September 14, 1935, in Dublin, Georgia.

During his formative years, he was educated in the Laurens County School System.

George moved to Albany, Georgia in early adult life and later relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where he began his professional career.  He was employed with the Coca Cola Company of Atlanta where he labored untiringly for many years and retired having rendered unparalleled and dedicated service.  Never satisfied with idleness after retirement, George re-entered the workforce as a forklift driver for various warehouse operations.  Daily, his technical knowledge and driving skills were put to task as he safely meandered throughout the facilities loading and unloading products and goods.

Family meant the world to George and he was deeply committed to them.  In 2004, he returned to Albany to assist his daughter in caring for his mother.  His love for family knew no boundaries and he gave of himself freely—never expecting anything in return.  He was a devoted son, a loving father and grandfather, a compassionate brother and   uncle, and the best cousin and friend anyone could ever hope for.  When life experiences became blurry, he had the unique ability to make them clearer—often turning them into unforgettable memories.

Throughout his life, George was rooted and grounded in the Lord.  Upon relocating to Albany, he united with New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Booker T. Batten.  He was a faithful servant who continually availed himself to Christian service and his calling as an Usher.  His faith and trust in God guided his life and allowed him to be an example for family, friends, and church family.

On July 24, 2020, God called his faithful servant home to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Eddie G. Dixon; and two siblings, Willie Lee Hall and Daisy Mae Mallory.

Loving memories will forever remain with his daughters, Queen E. Moses of Albany, GA, Shirley Thomas of Cincinnati, OH, and Roelisa Dixon of South Carolina; siblings, Della Davis, JoAnn Fisher, Ezell Hall, Jr., and Henry Hall all of Toomsboro, GA, Robert Hall and  Larry  (Dujuana) Hall both of Philadelphia, PA, and Otis Hall of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; very special friends, Arthur Moses of Albany, GA and Van El-Main of   Atlanta, GA ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,  and friends.
