IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George
Elder
July 26, 1945 – September 16, 2020
George Alexander Elder was born July 26, 1949, in Albany, Georgia. He was the beloved son of Oreather Bryant and James Elder.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County where he was active in various activities and functions.
George was a very inquisitive individual who was often in search of new experiences. For a brief time, his ambition moved him to Newark, New Jersey; seeking more knowledge and opportunities. While there, he developed a great appreciation for stylish fashion and flair; learning through experiences; and great love and inspiration for the church. He later returned to Albany and united with the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years, he was a dedicated member of the choir, usher board, and served willingly wherever needed in the church. He especially loved sharing his faith with others and gained many life-long friendships along the way.
Spending quality time with family and friends was paramount in George's life. He was selfless, generous, compassionate, and he had a spirit of sunshine that could be felt by all who encountered him. When in his presence, you always felt loved and he showed us that people were more important than material goods. He will be missed dearly.
On September 16, 2020, George transitioned from this earthly season at Pruitt Health Nursing Home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daryl; and his sister, Gussine.
He is survived by four siblings, Vickie Flowers, Fred Maden, Barbara Armstrong, and James Elder; one granddaughter, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his best friend, Charlie Bridges.
