Geraldine Jenkins Brown, daughter of the late Rosie Williams and F. J. Jenkins, was born in Shellman, Georgia on March 4, 1952. She was reared by her grandparents, Jerry and Willie Mae Williams.
During the early years of her life, she attended the public schools of Randolph County and graduated from Henderson High School in 1970.
From a very early age, Geraldine was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, she gave her life to the Lord and united with the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Shellman, Georgia. In January 2011, she joined the Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church where she continued her Christian walk with the Lord until her demise.
Geraldine was united in holy matrimony to Elijah Brown, Sr. Their union was blessed with loving children who were nurtured with love, kindness, and care. As a wife and mother, she was an extremely conscientious individual who was passionate about her work. She worked untiringly at Sunnyland Farms and retired after rendering 25 years of dedicated service.
Always gentle, kind, and personable, Geraldine had a love for life, a servant's heart, and she could see the beauty in all things around her. When spending time with her children and grandchildren who were among her most cherished gifts, she would turn an ordinary day into an adventure; a chore into an activity; and a boring evening into a lasting memory. Geraldine believed deeply in unconditional love, and delighted in helping and caring for others. She enjoyed cooking and watching sports.
On Monday, September 17, 2018, her earthly journey ended as she answered the Master's call to come home. Although absent from the body, she will forever remain in the hearts of many people. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her son, Daryl.
She leaves a lifetime of love and memories to be cherished by her beloved children, Tracy Brown, Elijah (Kelly) Brown, Jr., Christopher Brown, Kimberly Brown, Johnny Brown, Shavon Soilberry (Cortez) Johnson all of Albany, GA, and Stacy Brown of Cottondale, AL; three siblings, Mary (Donald) Hurley an Isaac Jenkins of Albany, GA, and Eli Williams of Germany; twenty-seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren all of Albany, GA; two close friends, Gwendolyn Kegler and Murray Nelson; and a host of loving relatives and dear friends.
