IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geraldine
Crawford
September 26, 1943 – April 17, 2020
The season of life for Geraldine Walker Crawford began in Albany, Georgia on September 26, 1943. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ola Mae Walker and J. C. Walker. She was raised by her grandparents, Henry and Fannie Duncan.
During the early years of her life, she received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School.
Geraldine was raised in a Christian home where she was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong character, and loving kindness. At an early age, she professed her faith and belief in Christ and united with Greater Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was a faithful, unselfish servant of the Lord who stayed on the battlefield. Over the years, she served diligently in the Sr. Mission Ministry and the Women's Ministry. She held fast to her belief that you never stop learning and growing in your Christian walk; she remained steadfast in her attendance at Bible Study and Church In Training. Geraldine was a prayer warrior who was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord; who loved her church family immensely; and who always had a smile and encouraging word for everyone she came in contact with.
She was united in marriage to the late Edgar Crawford and their union was blessed with four children. Geraldine was an altruistic mother who always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Her commitment to her family was the cornerstone of who she was. Not only was she devoted to her family, she was a loyal and dedicated employee as well. Her professional life as an employee of Phoebe Putney and Palmyra Park Hospitals was diverse and rewarding. She retired after rendering more than 30 years of dedicated service.
Devoted mother, loving grandmother, caring sister, nurturing aunt and cousin, and constant friend, Geraldine lived a rich and rewarding life. She was a kind and giving individual with a sweet, humble spirit. She had a servant's heart which was demonstrated in her constant, unconditional love of people. She was a peace maker who was loved and respected by all.
On April 17, 2020, medical staff of Coliseum Medical Center surrounded Geraldine as Almighty God called His servant home to rest. In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death four brothers, Joseph, Bennie, Willie James, and James Walker.
She leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to be cherished by her children, Demetrius (Sally) Crawford of Douglasville, GA, Cassandra Crawford, and Katrina Crawford both of Albany, GA, and Guy (Donna) Crawford of Murfreesboro, TN; one sister, Eddie Mae McDonald of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Demetrius Jr., Katrina Monique, Brionne, Brittany, and LaDonna; special nephews and nieces, Earl Crawford, Gwen Crawford, Janice Crawford Johnson, Gwen (Aaron) Favors, and Stephanie McDonald all of Albany, GA, and Travis McDonald of Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren; and a myriad of other nieces and nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
