Obituary

The season of life for Geraldine Richardson Trice began in Albany, Georgia on January 17, 1944. She was the beloved daughter of the late Elijah Richardson, Sr. and Frances Mathis Richardson.

She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1961. She continued her education at Monroe Area Vocational Technical School, earning a diploma in Office Education. In later years, she completed continuing education courses in Floral Design at Albany Technical College. She went on to receive her certification as a Master Florist from the UGA Extension Center in Tifton, Georgia.

Geraldine was raised in a Christian home where she was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong character, and loving kindness. At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ, promising the Lord that she would live her life dedicated to His purposes. From that time forward, she devoted herself faithfully to serving the Lord at Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor E. L. Dunlap and First Monumental Faith Baptist Church, under the guidance of Pastor Roosevelt Carter, I. As she continued in her season, still excited and enthusiastic about God's work, Good Shepherd House of Worship became her final earthly church home, under the covering of the late Pastor Darryl Stokes and Prophetess Jacquelyn Stokes. Geraldine was a praying woman, she communed with the Lord daily, and she was often called upon to share the Word of God throughout Southwest Georgia. As she continued to avail herself to be a disciple, she taught Bible Study; utilized her uniquely rich contralto voice to minister in song; and facilitated numerous women workshops, conferences, and programs.

On May 27, 1961, Geraldine was united in marriage to her life-long mate, Evins Trice, Jr. Together, they embarked on a life filled with love, adventure, and true devotion to each other. Through the years, she proved to be a true anchor and helpmate to her husband. She delighted in supporting Evins, their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all of their endeavors. Geraldine was steadfast in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love and strong family values. As a wife and mother, she ate not the bread of idleness and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. She was always eager to welcome family and friends into her home—especially for "Soul Food Sunday's"; was intentional about making every family member feel special; and she understood the importance of family togetherness, which created lasting memories.

Early in her career, she was an employee of Coats & Clark of Albany and Procter & Gamble. She later became an AIFD certified floral designer at Keith's Florist. After retiring from her very diverse and rewarding career, she continued utilizing her professional training, talents and gifts as owner/operator of "Expressions All-In-One"—a creative niche of unique floral arrangements and designs. Geraldine's life after work included reading, sewing, home interior, shopping, quilting, cooking, hat creations, fine collectibles, listening to old spirituals, and studying varied biblical literature.

On May 13, 2020, Geraldine faced the sunset of her days on earth and entered her rest. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Elijah Richardson, Jr. and Susie Mays; grandson, Andrell Trice; son-in-law, Emmitt Wiley; and brothers-in-law, Albert Malone and Pastor Darryl Stokes.

She has left an indelible impact to be remembered by her beloved husband, Evins Trice, Jr.; children, Audie (Darlene) Trice, Debra T. Wiley, Kelvin (Carsundra) Trice, and Gwinetta L. Trice; siblings, Queen Malone, Apostle Belinda Walker, Fran Hines, Prophetess Jacqueline Stokes, and Oscar L. Richardson; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
