Gerdine Christian Smith was born on November 23, 1949 in Albany, Georgia to the late Rosa Mae Christian and the late Ozzie Porter, Sr.  At an early age she gave her life to Christ and joined Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  She was educated in the Dougherty County School System.

Gerdine was blessed with a sweet, loving and giving spirit.  Many have said that she would give the shirt off her back to the needy.  She was a very good cook.  Her biscuits and pound cakes melted in your mouth.  She loved working and had the opportunity to have been employed in many capacities:  manufacturing jobs with Bob's Candies, Flint Industrial Linen Services; a cook service worker at Merry Acres Restaurant; and a Care Sitter for the sick and shut in.

On Thursday, February 14, 2019, Gerdine departed her earthly life.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Deborah Hall and Benny Toye.

She leaves to cherish her memories loving and devoted siblings:  Bettye Wallace of Columbia, South Carolina,   Barbara (Donnis) Keaton, Ozzie Christian, Carter (Johnnie) Christian, Barbara J. (Charles) Sisroe, Ozzie Lee Porter, Jr., Irene (Isiah) Kelley, all of Albany, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
