IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gladys Williams
Finney
October 22, 1922 – July 17, 2019
Gladys Williams Finney , beloved daughter of the late Glynn and Viola C. Williams, was born in Mitchell County, Georgia on October 22, 1922.
During the early years of her life, she attended school in Mitchell County.
She was united in holy matrimony to Deacon James Finney, Sr.. Their union stood the test of time and they enjoyed many memorable years together as they honored their vows to love and cherish each other. Domestic at heart, Gladys was unwavering in her dedication to foster a home filled with love, joy, and strong values. As a wife, mother and homemaker, she ate not the bread of idleness; she was constant in her efforts to care for the needs of her family.
Imbued with a strong Christian background, Gladys professed her faith and belief in Christ at a very early age. She was baptized and received the "right hand of fellowship" into the body of Christ at Jackson Grove Baptist Church of Camilla, Georgia where she served for many years. After her marriage, she united with Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in Baconton, Georgia. Through the years, she remained steadfast and unmovable in her Christian walk with the Lord and served faithfully as Mother of the Church. She was a vessel whose life was filled with service and praise—she stayed on the battlefield.
Blessed beyond measure, Mother Finney reached the hallowed age of 96. She lived to see generations of off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, and godliness. She was a kind and generous lady who greeted each day with a smile, who loved her family dearly. and who touched the lives of many people in a very special way. You couldn't know her without being inspired by her love and devotion to her family, friends, church, and community.
On July 17, 2019, Mother Finney was called from labor to reward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Deacon James Finney, Sr.
