Obituary

Grady Harvey, beloved son of the late Evelyn Harvey Evans, was born in Dublin, Georgia on December 26, 1955.  He was also nurtured under the guiding hands of his caring uncle, Johnny D. Harvey.

After his family moved to Albany, Georgia, he attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe High School.  While at Monroe, he gained valuable technical and industrial skills that steered his interest toward the construction industry.

Having been thoroughly convinced that his training in school had prepared him for the workforce, Grady embarked on his life-long career in lumber and construction.  For many years, he was employed at Leeds Construction Company and worked untiringly to ensure that every task was given his utmost attention and completed with extreme care.  Upon retirement, he was hailed as a loyal and dedicated employee who never faltered in his duties and responsibilities.

Grady was a devoted father, unfailing brother, awesome uncle, loving nephew, committed cousin, and loyal friend who embraced life with open arms.  In his family, he was known as the "peacemaker—the calm in the storm."  He believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping and caring for others.  His friendliness and kindness to all people and his devotion and love for his family and friends are lasting tributes to his benevolence , generosity, and the beauty of his heart and soul.

On Sunday, November 6, 2022, Stevie was called to everlasting peace and rest.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Denise Evans and Jackie Harvey.   His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have been a part of his life.

Precious memories will be held close in the hearts of his loving children, Kimberly Harvey, Evelyn (Ja'Vontavious) Harvey-Ofton, and Josephine Harvey; siblings, Diane Evans, Delores (Alfred) Phillips, Eddie L. Evans, and James L. Evans; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
