IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gregory Vanoy
Florence
November 4, 1967 – February 20, 2024
Gregory V. Florence was born in Camilla, Georgia on November 3, 1967. He was one of twelve children in the union of the late Ernest Florence, Sr. and Lucretia Florence.
He received his early childhood and secondary education in the Mitchell County School System. Throughout school, Gregory was a very lively, energetic young man who was always ready for adventure and actively participated in numerous school activities and events.
At a young age, Gregory professed his faith in Christ Jesus and united with the Willow Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Pelham, Georgia. Along life's journey, he was forever mindful of his many blessings.
A very industrious and persistent individual, Gregory spent numerous years employed as a factory worker at Cooper Tires of Albany. He took great pride in his work and always gave his best—no matter what the task.
Loving called "Papa" by family and friends, Gregory was an exceptional father and grandfather, one-of-a-kind brother and uncle, committed cousin, and loyal friend. He had a big heart for all things and found joy in every circumstance. His sense of humor had a way of lighting up a room and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.
On February 20, 2024, Gregory transitioned from this earthly life at Pruitt Health Palmyra in Albany, Georgia. Although his earthly departure leaves us saddened, we find comfort in Isaiah 41:10, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant brothers.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his loving children, Devonte (Sanqueshia) Saucier, Darrius Parker, Jafar Florence, Dariana Wilson, Brynn Wilson, and Ja'Michael (Shelby) Irvin; siblings, Ernest (Shirley) Florence, Jr., Rosa (Richard) Doss, Gloria Jean Florence, and William (Joan) Florence all of Pelham, GA, Geraline (Arthur) Mitchell and Cassie Mae Florence both of Albany, GA, Floyd (Bernice) Florence of Thomasville, GA, and Jeanette (Pastor Eddie Sr.) Edwards, Sr.; uncle and aunt, Albert (Armettia) Florence of Pelham, GA and Lillie Mae Garvin of Tampa, FL; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
