IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gregory
Rivers
June 26, 1968 – February 11, 2024
Gregory Rivers, affectionately known as "Greg," was born in Albany, Georgia on June 26, 1968, to the late Johnnie Rivers, Jr. and Mary Bell Brown Rivers.
He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Westover High School in 1986. Throughout his school years, Gregory excelled academically and was actively involved in many school activities. While attending Westover, he developed a passion for expressive and visual arts. He was extremely artistic, astoundingly creative, and could draw anything he saw or imagined! His profuse love for art motivated him to further his education at Darton College, majoring in Visual Arts and Graphic Design.
A very persistent and industrious young man, Gregory began his professional career in the Food Service Industry at the age of sixteen as a delivery driver with Domino's Pizza. He quickly progressed through the ranks and was promoted to Store Manager; working untiringly for more than 20 years at various locations in Albany. Greg concluded his career experiences as a Store Manager at Taco Bell. Over the years, his career was defined by his hard work, high expectations, and unquestionable integrity.
Gregory, a very kind and gentle-hearted person, embraced life with open arms. He was deeply devoted to his family and friends; loved unconditionally; provided support to anyone in need; was accepti9ng and forgiving; never met a stranger; and always found a silver lining in every situation. His beautiful smile would light up a room and his engaging personality captured the hearts of all who knew him. Outside of work, Greg enjoyed collecting and reading comic books; drawing; listening to music; and spending time with family and friends while engaging them in endless conversation, comical jokes, and loads of laughter. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him dearly.
On February 11, 2024, Greg transitioned to eternal peace and rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by is eldest sister, Johnnie Mary Rivers.
His fond memories and legacy of love will be forever cherished by his beloved daughters, Jakierra Rivers of Columbus, GA, Jasmine (Dominique) Dinkins of Fayetteville, NC, and Jayce Rivers of Albany, GA; his sister, Eustacia Kersey of Albany, GA; aunt and uncle, Marie Brown Wright of Smithville, GA and Melvin (Ruthie) Brown of Flint, MI; three grandchildren, Jaxen Dinkins, Dakota Dinkins, and Harlow Souza; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
