Obituary

The journey of life for Gwendolyn Kelson Taylor began on December 9, 1959, in Camilla, Georgia.  She was the first of three children born to the union of Phillip and Quincy Olivia Kelson.

During the early years of her life, she received her formal education in the public schools of Camilla, Georgia, graduating from Mitchell County High School in 1977.  She continued her education at Clark-Atlanta University and later transferred to Albany State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

From a very young age, Gwendolyn was nurtured in the Word of God.  As a youth, she began her Christian journey with the Lord at Brown Chapel CME Church of Camilla, Georgia.  She was a faithful servant of the Lord and willingly served in various capacities in the church.

She was united in holy matrimony to Isaac Taylor, Sr.  Their union endured through the years and they were blessed with two children—Audra and Isaac, Jr..  Together they nurtured and taught them to be respectful and humble, to love one another, and to love and trust in the Lord.  As a wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and social worker, she ate not the bread of idleness; she was constant in her efforts to care for the needs of her family.   She had a deep sense of family loyalty, ties, and responsibilities and was unwavering in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love, joy, and strong values. .

Gwendolyn lived a life of kindness and compassion tempered with a loving spirit.  She had a servant's heart and felt most comfortable when helping others.  She was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things and accepted everyone for who they were.   One of her finest qualities was gratitude.  Even in the midst of health challenges and adversities, she was always grateful for every good things that came her way.  Her stamina and strength helped us to realize that every day is a blessing and an     opportunity to encourage others, to persevere and remain strong, and to create lasting memories.  She will be missed dearly by family and friends who loved her dearly.

On April 10, 2019, Gwendolyn transitioned from this earthly life at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Isaac Taylor, Sr..

She leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to be cherished by her loving children, Audra Taylor of Savannah, GA and Isaac Taylor, Jr. of New York City, NY; parents, Quincy Olivia Kelson of Albany, GA and Philip Kelson of Camilla, GA; granddaughter, Chloe Alexis Thompson of Savannah, GA; siblings, Pamela Kelson of Savannah, GA, Craig Kelson; Luella Butler of Camilla, GA, and Robin W.
