Obituary

Harold Whitfield, the eldest son of Willie James and Clara Mae Whitfield, was born in Albany, Georgia on May 26, 1946.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School where he participated in numerous schools functions and activities.

Harold was united in marriage to the love of his life, JoAnn Hunt. They shared a love that knew no boundaries and a devotion to one another that grew stronger as it stood the test of time. Harold was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who labored untiringly to care for his family.  He was a persistent, hardworking, and dedicated employee of Glover's Landscaping .  No matter what the task, he always took great pride in his work.

Loving husband, dutiful father, caring brother, committed uncle, and loyal friend, "Pete," as he was called by family and close friends, embraced opportunities and the chance to experience life with open arms.  He was an outgoing individual who was very witty and the life-of-the crowd; a fashionable dresser who was decked out in suits and had a style and flair of his own; a sports fan who enjoyed attending games and watching them on television; and a very outspoken but kind man who delighted in spending time with family and friends.  Through all of life's challenges and triumphs, Pete always remained upbeat and joyful.

On Sunday, May 19, 2019, Harold departed this earthly life.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Whitfield and Johnny Whitfield.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, JoAnn Whitfield; children, Kenny Whitfield and Afreeca Fulton of Atlanta, GA, Marcus Wingfield of Jacksonville, FL, and Kenyatta Smith, Antonio Hunt, Yolanda Hunt, LaShamma Lawson, and Jos é Whitfield, all of Albany, GA; stepsons, Triston Hunt and Terrence Hunt; siblings, Phrophet Marvin (Prophetess Dorothy) Whitfield, Minister Lisa (Ricky) Stephens, Carolyn Whitfield, Delores Whitfield, Larry Whitfield, and David Whitfield; mother-in-law, Lula Hunt; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Windom, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Franklin, D'Andrea Edwards, Linda Hunt, and John Hunt III; grandchildren, Marquise, Marquez, Savanna, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Edward, DeAnna, Christian Makel, Tyler, Keshon, Iyanna, Markesia, Mason, Mikaila, Jermaine, Jordan, Zona, Kierra, Antonio, Kyiesha, and Aaliyah; and a host of  great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
