Hazel Louvenia Edwards was born February 24, 1932 in Baconton, Georgia.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Alex and Leola McBride Watts.

She was educated through the Mitchell County schools through 12th grade, she then completed one year of college from Albany State University. She worked for many years at Purity Sugar Cane Co and Albany Healthcare until her retirement.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Deacon Charles F. Edwards in 1950.

As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with New Salem M. B. Church in Baconton, GA.  After marriage she moved her membership to St. Mary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Lockett Walker where she sang in the choir and served faithfully as a Mission Leader, Deaconess and Mother of the church.  After many years of being a member of St. Mary, she moved her membership back to New Salem where she served as Deaconess until her health began to decline.

A woman of few words, Hazel was a loving and caring mother who loved spending time with her family.  She was blessed not only with children, but grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride in her life.  She enjoyed cooking, shopping and working in her flower garden and she was dedicated to serving God through missionary work.

On Monday, June 26, 2023, Hazel transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life with the Lord.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in  death by four siblings; Pernell Watts, Annie J.  Watts Hutchinson, Eddie Watts and England Watts

She leaves to cherish her memories, seven children; Linda Diann Edwards Bogan (Arden), Cephia Denise Toomer (Daryll), Charles Edwards Jr. (Cora), Carolyn L. Taylor, Demetruis M. Edwards, Russell Edwards, Earl J. Edwards.  She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members and friends. Special friends; Mary Bleu, Ardie Watkins and Willie Pearl Harris.
