Obituary

Henry Carter, Jr. was born in Albany, Georgia on April 2, 1974. He was the son of the late Valencia Hudson Carter Simmons and the late Henry Carter, Sr.

He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe High School where he was active in numerous school activities and events. Having been thoroughly convinced as a youngster that he would some day drive an 18 wheeler, Henry continued his education at Albany Technical College and completed the requirements to earn his Commercial Driver's License (CDL). His keen interest in "big rigs" and his educational training launched his life-long professional career in the transportation industry. As an over-the-road transportation specialist for Fleetmaster, Hunt, and Excel trucking companies, he traveled throughout the United States ensuring that manufactured products, services, and goods were delivered to customers in a timely manner. Henry took pride in his driving skills and as a result, was recognized for driving thousands of miles accident free during his career.

Henry was a witty, fun-loving, generous individual who was devoted to his family and friends; enjoyed listening to music and dancing; loved eating, traveling, and cooking; reveled in Wrestlemania; and was truly a sports enthusiast whose favorite teams were the Falcons and Lakers. Henry had an endless reservoir of love for family and friends, and he truly enjoyed spending time with them (if they called ahead). He laughed often, felt unbridled happiness, and loved unconditionally. The strong bonds of friendship that he developed throughout his life will forever be cherished and remembered.

On April 8, 2020, Henry parked his "rig" and transitioned to eternal rest.

He leaves fond memories that will forever be cherished by his children, Henry ShaRod Carter (Audriana Adams), Donte (Shakeya) Carter, Christopher Que'Shawn Carter, Darnell TyShawn Carter, and Quentin KeyNard Carter; mother of his children, Barbara Jackson; grandchildren, Andre Adams, Jordan Barkley, Josiah Barkley, and Alaya Carter; siblings, Felicia (Joseph Jr.) Sweat and David Jerome Carter; nieces, Jordyn Sweat and Tatyana Carter; a devoted companion, Angela Wall; stepdaughters, Quatania Grant and Alexis Williams; step-grandchildren, Kennedy Manning and Chase Grant; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
