Obituary

Deacon Henry Jefferson Holloway, Sr., was born on July 29, 1933 in Terrell County, Georgia to the late Bobby Holloway, Sr. and Mary Louise
Holloway. He was one of eleven children. He departed this life and received his wings on May 24, 2023 at his home in Albany, Ga.


He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Corner Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Mose Harvey. He later joined County Line Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Zack Bailey.


He served as a faithful member for over 50 years until his health declined, under the leadership of Rev. Jack Johnson. He served the church in many different positions and roles throughout his membership at County Line.


He was a Sunday School Teacher, worked in the finance room, the church Chairman, member of the deacon board, and chairman of the deacon board. Deacon Holloway was a member of the Baptist Association for 20 years. He was a member of King Solomon Lodge # 14 F&AM – PHA.
He served in the United State Army where he did one tour in Vietnam. Deacon Holloway attended the Public School System in Terrell County,
Georgia. He later continued his education at Albany Area Vocational School in Auto & Body Mechanics and Brick Masonry. He was employed at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia.


Deacon Holloway was a man of faith and integrity. The joys of his life were his family and friends, especially his wife and children who he loved unconditionally. He enjoyed spending time reading his bible and being outside working in his yard and tending to his chickens.


Deacon Holloway married the love of his life, Mary Alice Shannon, on February 11, 1961. To their union of 62 years, they raised 5 sons, 23 grandchildren, 40 great -grandchildren and 7 great -great -grandchildren.


They opened their homes and poured into the lives of many who they also considered their children.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Sons: Everette (Patricia) Jackson and Andrew Holloway, Brothers: Rev. John Holloway, Lucius Holloway, Bobby Holloway; Sisters: Coornelia Mingo, Mildred Toomer, Alice Smith, 1 grandchild; Tyondria Crawford, 1 great grandchild, Javeion McClendon.


He leaves his legacy and memories to his wife Mary Alice Holloway, Sons: Henry (Jacqueline) Holloway, Jr., Darryl (Annette) Holloway, Demetrius (Chiqkita) Ford; Sisters: Lurethia Sykes, Eva Sue Johnson; Brothers: Eddie B. Holloway, James Holloway; Godchildren: Brenda Ford, Rene Jones, Dana (Chris) Shine, Bernice (Bishop Willie) McKind, Vontressa (Tremayne) Price, Kimberly (Leonard) Hosely, Kenneth (Stacy) Price, Michael (Tony) Reed, Alice Countryman, Alice Toomer, Liela Ellis, Alan Smith, Andre Ivie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
