IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Irvin Buchannon,
Jr.
September 2, 1951 – September 20, 2024
Irvin Buchannon, Jr., affectionately known as "Doc," was born on September 2, 1951, in Albany, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late Pearlie Mae Stamper Buchannon and Irvin Buchannon, Sr. Irvin departed this life on September 20, 2024.
Educated in the Dougherty County School System, Irvin excelled in sports, with a particular passion for football.
He married the love of his life, Mattie Albritton, and together they welcomed two children: Shaddric, whom he affectionately called "Sheet Rock," and Darian, known as "Baby Girl." Nurtured in the word of God, Irvin was a devoted member of Third Kiokee Baptist Church for over 20 years, serving on the Number 2 Usher Board and coaching the church's community basketball team. In his leisure time, he found joy in fishing.
From a young age, Irvin embraced the values of hard work, determination, and discipline—qualities that defined his journey and led him to establish a successful business, Buchannon Drywall. He generously shared his sheetrock skills with many friends and family, a craft he learned from his brother-in-law, Lucious Albritton, and Nelson Robinson.
Irvin leaves behind a loving family to cherish his legacy: his wife, Mattie Albritton Buchannon; his children, Shaddric (Cappola) and Darian (Delando); his siblings, Emanuel Buchannon (Bridgett), Erma Price (Willie), Michael Buchannon (Regina), Felicia Lester (Donnis), Angela Buchannon (Eddie), Christopher Buchannon, Shanta Cicero (Charles), and Sebrecca Buchannon (Eric); his in-laws, Lucious Albritton (Denise), Roosevelt Albritton (Patricia), and Dwayne Albritton; grandchildren Jaron Buchannon (Benia), Michael Buchannon (Shakira), Payton Mathis, Parker Mathis, and Alia Buchannon; one great-grandchild, Jace Buchannon; uncles Jimmy Odom (Twila) and Roger Odom; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Irvin's warm spirit and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
