Obituary

Jack Dennard, Jr. was the oldest son of four children born to the late Jack Dennard, Sr. and Ruby Dennard.  He was the grandson of the late Sam and Amy Lakes Dennard and John and Eliza Watson Pierce.

He was educated in the Terrell County School System, graduating from Carver High School in 1963. While in school, he participated in various school events.

Throughout his childhood, Jack was nurtured in the word of God.  At  an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Shiloh  Missionary Baptist Church of Dawson, Georgia.

Believing strongly in loyalty and commitment to his country, Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served with distinction. While enlisted, he received numerous commendations for his valor and bravery.  At the close of his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged and, thereafter, transitioned to employment at Firestone, and later retired as a painter from the Albany Marine Corps Logistic Base.  During his career, he gave his best at all times.

Family and friends meant the world to Jack and he delighted in spending quality time with them.  He was a kind and generous man who greeted each day with a smile and touched the lives of many.  He was a loving husband, father, g-daddy, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor.  Oftentimes described as a "Jack of all trades,"  he was a man of many gifts and talents.  He was a missionary, a handyman, a hard worker, and  one who was always ready to lend a helping hand.  Two of his favorite sayings were:  "Y'all be good" and "Do the right thing, man!"

On May 12, 2020, Jack transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Cal Dennard and Lee Gertha Roberts.

He leaves fond memories that will be forever cherished by his faithful and devoted wife, Juanita Castleberry Dennard; four children, Jack Dennard III, Jory Dennard, Juanice (Marcal) McLaurin, and Tamara Jackson; five grandchildren, Toshiann Hawkins, Jacquez Crimbley, Jamari Dennard, Exavienn Brooklin, and Jaiden McLaurin; his sister, Brenda (Leander) Adams; brothers– and sisters-in-law,  Nathaniel Castleberry, Bobby (Mary) Castleberry, Darris (Beverly) Castleberry, Eric (Quarnita) Castleberry, Annie (Joe) Wannamaker, Gail Williams, and Alma Thomas; a special friend who was like a daughter, Kari Smith; his "hang out" buddy, Clifton Ferguson III; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Although absent from our midst, he will forever have a place in our hearts.

"O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in Him."         Psalm 34:8
