Obituary

James Edward Brown, son of the late France Brown and Para Lee Jackson-Brown, was born March 2, 1964.

He received his formal education in the Norwalk Connecticut School System.  Throughout school, James was an energetic, strong-willed young man who was always ready for adventure.  He loved all sports, but his love for football was apparent from the moment he picked up a football. He was immensely talented and fierce on the football field; and he pushed himself daily to become one of the best high school players of all times.

At a very early age, James confessed his faith and belief in Christ Jesus and   united with the Little Zion Church of God in Christ.  He dearly loved the Lord and remained steadfast and humble throughout life's journey.

A military enthusiast who strongly believed in commitment to his country, James served in the Army National Guard for more than eight years.  The discipline and patriotism he learned during his enlistment never left him, as family and friends can attest.  Not only was James passionate about his military service, he also had a love for the martial arts.  For many years, he studied the art of Karate and became a towering figure in the sport.  He was a brilliant black belt artist who competed fearlessly in local and state events, and received numerous trophies and awards for outstanding tournament play.  Yes, James was truly a martial artist among martial artists.

Endearingly called "Bro" by his family and "JB" by his friends, James had a spirit of sunshine that could be felt by everyone around him.  He laughed often, felt unbridled happiness, lived life on his own terms, and loved unconditionally.  He was the kind of person that anyone would be proud to call father, brother, uncle, companion, cousin, or friend. Without a doubt, he has left an indelible impression that will forever remain in our hearts.

James transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest and peace on October 4, 2023.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Brown-Rogers.

Precious memories will forever be cherished by his son, Brandon Brown of Stamford, CT; his sisters, Shirley Ann Brown (Baker) of Norwalk, CT and Sharon (Will) Lanier of Albany, GA; two very devoted and special friends, Mae Bannister of Albany, GA and Sheila Shaw of Norwalk, CT; uncle and aunts, Theron Brown and Dora Brown of Opelika, AL, Eva McGee and Mary Jackson of Albany, GA, and Eugenia Brown of Tampa, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
