James M. Gilliard was born in Albany, GA November 29, 1962 to the late John D. Gilliard and Willie Bell Gilliard Kalip. He was the ninth of twelve children.

James was educated in Dougherty County School System

At an early age, he professed his faith and belief in Christ Jesus and united with Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and later joined New Directional.

A very loving and caring individual, James enjoyed being around family and friends. He enjoyed cooking and was always willing to give a helping hand.

On Thursday July 21, 2022, James answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Janice Gilliard and brother, Darrell Gilliard.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife Helen Gilliard, three daughters; Rhonnecia Gilliard, Stephanie Rivers and Lucretia Rivers and two sons; Jatavis Jones and Michael Rivers all of Albany, six sisters; Rosetta Fletcher, Inetha Fletcher (Willie), Altometer Williams (Carl),Dollie Nix, Belinda Williams (Warren), Carolyn Jones (Melvin) and two brothers; Eddie Gilliard and Eugene Gilliard (Angela), sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren all of Albany, GA and a host of nieces and nephews the loved him dearly.
