Obituary

James Patrick Johnson was born in Warner Robins, Georgia on March 8, 1978, to Sara Diane Johnson and the late Larry Johnson. He was the fourth of seven siblings. As a youth, he accepted Christ as Lord and Savior; was baptized along with his brothers; and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Cochran, Georgia

Patrick, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, began his education in the Houston County School System. Upon relocating to Albany, Georgia with his family, he attended Monroe Comprehensive High School, graduating in 1997. While at Monroe, he was an exceptional athlete who pushed himself daily to perfect his skills in football, wrestling, and track & field. He continued his quest for knowledge at Albany State University on a Track Field athletic scholarship. After matriculating at Albany State for a period of time, Patrick opted to defer his educational pursuits to render military service.

Ready to serve his country, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served with distinction. He was a soldier to the core and the discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served valiantly and with distinction. At the close of his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged and returned to Albany where he worked alongside his father at Johnson's Builders and Remodelers.   Having developed a keen interest in "big rigs," Patrick transitioned to a career in the transportation industry as a truck driver for Circle Bar A Trucking Company. He later ventured out as an entrepreneur, becoming the owner and operator of his own trucking company.

On November 29, 2007, James Patrick married Tanzania Williams. Together, they embarked on a 13-year adventure filled with love, respect, and commitment to each other. Patrick was a great husband, father, grandfather, and provider who was straight-forward, unpretentious, hardworking, stern, kind, and very generous. He was never satisfied with idleness and would often say, "I don't get tired." Patrick genuinely cherished ever moment of his life—always looking forward to a better tomorrow.

Racing ranked high on his list of favorite pastimes. He was a member of the OWA Performers Racing Team of Albany, and an affiliate of the US 19 Dragway where he was an avid drag racer.

Though Patrick's earthly departure on November 28, 2020 leaves a void in the hearts of family and friends, his caring spirit will always be remembered. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Johnson; and his brother, Derrick Troy Wade.

He leaves to forever cherish his memory and legacy a devoted and loving wife,     Tanzania W. Johnson of Tallahassee, FL; his mother, Sara Diane Johnson of Albany, GA; four children, Shemaiah Boone, James P. Johnson, Jr., Nehemiah Boone, and Jeremiah Boone all of Albany, GA; step-children, Chanelle Williams and Dontavious Salters of Albany, GA, and Javonte Austin of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Brooklyn Hampton, Taylor Hampton, Dallas Austin, Jrayden Austin, Kyrii Austin, and Janova Thomas; siblings, Larry (Kenya) Johnson of Bellville, NJ, April (Charley) Kellum of Vidalia, GA, Lawrence (Inez) Johnson of Honolulu, HI, William (Lawanna) Johnson of Albany, GA, and a step-sister, Amy (Angela) Hall of Stone Mountain, GA; devoted friends, Jesse and Sheila Freeman and Ishmael and Bridget Williams; god-daughter, Tasha Campbell; and a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
