IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Perkins
May 30, 1966 – January 23, 2025
From the mind of God in eternity onto the canvas of time, James Earl Perkins was born on May 30, 1966 to the late Ms. Charlie Mae Perkins in Arlington, Georgia.
Martin Luther King Jr said, "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." As most young men raised in the south, he courageously navigated education in the Calhoun County Public School System.
At a young age, James was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Arlington, Georgia. Later in life, he joined Eureka Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, where he served as an usher under the leadership of Dr. Bill Edge, Sr.
"Success isn't always about greatness. It's about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come," said Dwayne Johnson. James reached a point in life where he made up his mind to consistently show up to every day. Every day, year after year, James showed up to work for various employers. In 2020, he secured employment as a vault installer with Hudson Vault Company and Martin Luther King Funeral Home. It was here that James would serve faithfully until the end.
Who doesn't love looking good? James was no exception. He enjoyed loving God and looking good while doing it. Other hobbies included his love for the Dallas Cowboys and cooking.
From the canvas of time back to eternity, James Earl Perkins departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at his residence in Albany, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlie Mae Perkins; sisters, Pearl Mae Prioleau and Shirley Irene Perkins; niece and nephew, Cassandra Prioleau and Terry Lamar George; and godparents, Ruby and Eddie Williams.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his life partner, Jamesetta Harvey; sister, Minnie Lue Anderson; niece and nephews, Aaron Prioleau, Agnes Prioleau, Derrick Maeweather and Samuel Perkins; godmother, Leola Collins; closest friends, Pastor Larry Leavette and Pat Leavette; three great nieces and three great nephews; and a host of extended family, friends, and co-workers.
