IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane
Bailey
July 7, 1949 – February 8, 2022
Minutes before midnight, Jane was the eldest twin born to Fred and Rose Ann Bailey in Blakely, Georgia. Minutes after midnight, her brother James was born and their bond was one that charted Jane's life-path in ways we would never have imagined all those many years ago.
As a child, "Baby Sister" as she was endearingly called by close family and friends, was strong-willed and energetic. She carried this energy with her into adulthood. Athletic in her younger years, Jane played basketball for Washington Elementary and High School in Early County. Her soft shooting touch and powerful style of play made her formidable on the court.
Jane was always ful of life and ready to travel. Loving nothing more than her family, she would often travel cross-country to visit them—especially her nieces and nephews for whom she had a special love. Jane never married, as she felt her family deserved her ultimate devotion. Whether picking cotton in the fields during those hot Georgia summers with her twin or traversing the globe visiting the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe, Jane always wore the most beautiful smile. Home for her was Queens, New York where she lived most of her adult life, after leaving behind the country living in Blakely to be close to her twin—just in case. Family was always first for Baby Sister!
Jane's love for family was only surpassed by her unwavering faith and love for Christ. She was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed attending Ladies Day programs and traveling with her sisters-in-Christ. Her latter years were spent in Albany, Georgia with her sisters, Hattie Moton and Betty Roberts. Jane resided at Wynfield Park Health and Rehabilitation Center from September 28, 2008, until our Lord and Savior called her home.
She is survived by her siblings, Hattie Moton of Albany, GA, Marie Buskey of Orangeburg, SC, Betty Roberts of Albany, GA, James Bailey of Queens, NY, Carol Bailey of Mesquite, TX, and Sterling Bailey of Newport News, VA . She also leaves several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews whom she loved as if they were her own.
