Obituary

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens."
Ecclesiastes 3:1

A Time to Be Born: Minister Janice Virleen Bray-Browner, daughter of the late Fredrick Douglas Bray and Ozzie Rutland Seay, began her earthly journey in Albany, Georgia on December 27, 1953.

A Time to Learn: She was a product of the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School. She continued her education at Albany Area Vocational School, Albany State College and at Darton College, earning a degree in Nursing.

A Time to Serve : Minister Bray-Browner had the great advantage of growing up in a home in which the Lord was feared and worshipped. At a very early age, she professed her faith and belief in Christ and united with the Morning Star Holiness Church under the guidance of her grandfather, Elder Nathan Starling. In later years, she continued her Christian walk at Christ Harvest Baptist Church, serving faithfully under the leadership of Pastor B. L. Richardson. Strong in faith, in character, and in wisdom, Mother Browner heeded the Master's call to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Giving ear to the "Macedonia call of Paul," she united with the Greater New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of eldest son, Pastor McKebia Bray. Over the years, she served faithfully as president of the Senior Choir, Sunday School Superintendent, Associate Minister, president of Mission, and a member of the Mother's Board. Her knowledge of the Word was immeasurable and her ability to pray and communicate with he Lord was profound. She had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and used her talents to help others. The words, "If I can help somebody as I travel along...then my living shall not be in van," truly exemplified Minister Browner's life. To the hungry, she offered food; to the sick, she offered care and comfort; to the lost, she offered hope and guidance. She inspired many people.

A Time to Work: Over the years, Minister Bray-Browner garnered much from her life experiences and held fast to her belief in professional work ethics and responsibilities. Her career in nursing included employment with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Worth County Hospital, First Care, Delco Remy, Miller Brewing Company, HCA Palmyra, and Master Food USA (M & M Mars). Upon her retirement after rendering innumerable years of loyal service, she was hailed as a kind and empathetic individual who was very passionate about her work.

A Time to Love: Minister Bray-Browner was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, caring sister, nurturing aunt, reliable cousin, and loyal friend who loved her family and friends dearly. She lived a rich and rewarding life of service to others.

A Time to Rest: On Monday, May 14, 2018 surrounded by her family, Mother Browner answered the Master's call and took her heavenly flight home.

A Time to Mourn: Left to mourn her passing and cherish fond memories are her children, Pastor McKebia (Lady Kayla) Bray, Sr., McKesia B.
