Janie Ruth Coleman was born in Albany, Georgia on August 16, 1960, to the late James and Johnnie R. Coleman.

She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Albany High School.  While at Albany High, she actively participated in numerous students organizations, activities, and events.

Janie was a persistent, conscientious mother and grandmother who held fast to her belief that work is honorable.  Through the years, she taught her children the value of hard work, perseverance, and dedication while engaging in varied employment  undertakings.

Often described as a very perceptive, good natured, and generous lady, Janie was a joy to be around.  She was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt—an inspiring soul who was always there for all who came to her with their troubles.  To the world, she was one person; but to her family, she was the world.  She instilled in her loved ones patience and endurance.  Even in the midst of life challenges, Janie remained strong and always looked for the best in every difficult situation.  Through it all, she acknowledged and accepted Christ as her personal Savior under the guidance of Bishop Henry M. Brown.  Constantly before her was Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV) "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden light."

On Monday, February 21, 2022, Almighty God in his infinite wisdom gently closed our beloved Janie Ruth's eyes and she transitioned to her eternal home.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her children, Victoria Coleman (Terence) and Johnathon Coleman; grandchildren, Deion Coleman, Craig Coleman, Na'Shuntae Coleman, and Arelle Davis; great grandchildren, De'Havion Coleman and De"Lonni Coleman; siblings, Sara Coleman, Lisa Coleman, Willie Coleman, Jerry Coleman (Betty), and Wendell Coleman (Darlene); four aunts, Patricia Henderson, Sophia Mae Coleman, Willie Gainer, and     Mamie Warren; one uncle, Freddie Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
