IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jereleen
Garner
October 12, 1942 – September 3, 2023
Jereleen Jackson Garner, beloved daughter of the late James C. Jackson and Lessie Mae Jackson, was born in Albany, Georgia on October 12, 1942.
She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School.
Throughout school, she was a very kind, compassionate student with a keen desire to help others. Having been taught very early in life to love and reverence God, Jereleen delighted in attending Friendship Baptist Church in Moultrie, Georgia. She was a strong prayer warrior whose faith in God never wavered; and she stayed on the battlefield until her demise. She was also an active member of Dorothy Chapter #76 Order of Eastern Star.
On July 9, 1966, Jereleen was united in holy matrimony to Otis Garner. She was a devoted wife and mother who looked well to the ways of her household and ate not the bread of idleness. For many years, she skillfully balanced her responsibilities as a homemaker with her employment at Dixie Sandwich Company. She was a loyal, dedicated employee who gave her BEST until her retirement.
Known for her gentle, selfless spirit, Jereleen was the one to go to for advice, help, and support—her doors were always open to family friends, and anyone in need. She had a servant's heart; was quick to forgive and reconcile; and was fierce believer in truth, honesty, and doing things right and in order.
On September 3, 2023, Jereleen was called home to eternal peace with the Lord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sister, Valley Mae Thomas, one brother–in-law, Jeffery K. Hunt and one sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Ward.
Loving memories will forever remain with her husband of 57 years, Otis Garner, Sr.; her children, Linda Watson, Alvin (Jacquelyn) Watson, and Otis Garner, Jr. of Albany, GA, and Charles (Carolyn) Watson, Jr. of Virginia; goddaughter, Cassandra James of Albany, GA; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Beatrice Smith; 9 brothers and sisters-in-laws, Juanita Walton,
Geneva S. Leverett, Delores A. Williams, Leroy (Gwen) Garner, Leonard (Joann) Garner, Mary L. Chattmon, Loretta (Jeffery) Wright, Samuel Hunt, and Rene T. Polite and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
