Jerry Otis Anderson was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. A spirit-filled, God-fearing man, Jerry was a powerful prayer warrior whose faith never faltered and his life was a light that guided many souls to Christ. His words were wise and kind—filled with grace, seasoned with salt, and tempered with peace. He sought to please God in his daily walk and looked to Him for wisdom, guidance, and understanding as her cared for his family and others.
A Time to Be Born: Jerry was born December 16, 1945, in Colquitt, Georgia to the late Robert Anderson and Marie King.
A Time to Learn: He was educated in the Miller County School System. Jerry valued higher education and continued his quest for knowledge at Florida A&M University.
A Time to Work: A very persistent and industrious young man, Jerry was employed with the New York City Transit Authority where he started as a token clerk and progressed through the ranks to management. He retired in 1998 as an Operations Superintendent.
A Time to Serve: At a very early age, Jerry accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Upon relocating to Albany, he united with Oakridge Baptist Church and served faithfully as an Usher under the leadership of Pastor Richard J. Pogue.
A Time to Love: Jerry was united in holy matrimony to Flora Dean Roberts. They shared a love that was steadfast and unshakeable.
A Time to Embrace: Jerry was a very kind and gentle-hearted person who embraced life's experiences with open arms. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and his engaging personality captured the hearts of all who knew him.
A Time to Rest : On Saturday, January 21, 2023, Jerry transitioned to eternal peace with the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Clarence Anderson.
A Time to Cherish: His legacy of love and fond memories will be forever cherished by his devoted wife, Flora Anderson; his children, Patrick (Christine) Roberts, Yvette (Reginald) King, and Jerry Tyrone Anderson II; siblings, John Anderson, Connell Anderson, and Beverly Tolliver; grandchildren, Keeshon Gilyard, Kewin Roberts, Tyler Anderson, Sean King, and Kortney King; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
