Jerry Tawan Bankston was born  in Albany, Georgia on June 26, 1981.  He was the son of Jane C. Bankston and George Brown.

He attended the public schools of Dougherty County and later completed the requirements for his GED at Albany Technical College.

"Rabbit and GC" as he was called by family and friends, was a very outgoing individual who lived life boldly and with intense energy.  He was free-spirited, strong willed, and definitely marched to the beat of his own drum—living each day like it was his last.  Jerry had a mind that never ceased questioning, a serious twinkle in his eyes, and a heart that opened freely to family and friends; never expecting anything in return.

In 2013, he relocated to Orlando, Florida with his mother.  While there, he was employed at various Bar & Grill Restaurants where he worked diligently for numerous years.  Rabbit enjoyed  life and all that it had to offer.  In his leisure he enjoyed listening to music and taking "selfies."  He will be deeply missed by family and friends who loved him dearly.

On June 2, 2021, Jerry departed this earthly life in Orlando, Florida.  Although absent from the body, he will forever be present in the hearts of family and friends who loved him  and will meet him again someday.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Frances Carpenter Bankston; his youngest brother, Jose M. Bankston; and three uncles, Jerry Tift, Jimmy Tift, and Julian Bankston.  Shortly after his death, his uncle   Julius Bankston also transitioned from this earthly realm.

Cherished memories will remain constant with his devoted mother, Jance C. Bankston; his father, George Brown; a precious daughter, La'Mea Longstreet; two sisters, Jemetrick (Thomas) Williams and Timbrika Bankston; nieces, Sa'Miya Bankston, Autman Williams, and AiShunt é Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
