Jerry Lee Jones was born in Albany, Georgia on September 16, 1952, to the late J. L. "Sam" Jones and Rosia Mary Jones.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System and actively participated in various school events and activities.

Jerry was a very persistent individual whose professional work life was very rewarding. He was an incredibly skilled and gifted dry wall installer and finisher whose craftmanship was put to task in the construction industry for many years.

His expertise and professional ethics were second to none and he worked tirelessly to ensure that his work was flawless.

In 1984, Jerry was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Lee. Side-byside, they forged an inseparable bond that was filled with love, trust, and respect for one another. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished his family, showered them with unconditional love, and supported them in all their endeavors.

Endearingly called "Maine" by family and friends, Jerry was often described as a hardworking, generous, and kind man who had a big heart for all things in life and always stood ready to help others. He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends; made a genuine difference in the lives of everyone around him; and he left footprints in our hearts that will never be forgotten.

On December 18, 2023, Jerry peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Glinda Jones, Glenda Jones, and Cherry Jones.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of his children, Antonio Whitehead and Angelia (Kelvin) Sheffield; grandchildren, Malcolm (Tiffany) Offord, Jr., Justin Whitehead, Sr., Ebony Whitehead, Constance McClain, Azorion Whitehead, Angeliyah Whitehead, and Timothy Hobbs; great grandchildren, Justin Whitehead, Jr. and Ja'Khai Whitehead; siblings, Gloria Jones-Ponder, Emma (Charlie) Jones, Darlene Clark, Marian Beach Shantorra Facen, Gregory (Angela) Jones, and Ronnie Duncan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
