IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jervis Lamar
Tookes, Sr.
January 21, 1973 – January 10, 2024
Jervis Lamar Tookes, Sr. was born in Miami, Florida on January 21, 1973. He was the son of Bessie Robinson and the late Octavious Lamar Tookes.
He received his formal education in the Miami-Dade County Public School System, including Madison Junior High School and Miami Central High School.
At an early age, Jervis accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Miami. In later years after relocating to Albany, Georgia, he fellowshipped with the Greater Grace Church of God in Christ.
Jervis was a very energetic and conscientious individual who was employed with various businesses for numerous years. While these work experiences proved to be beneficial, they were overshadowed by his deep yearning and desire to own a food truck and work for himself—his lifelong dream. Even in the midst of health challenges which prevented his dream from becoming a reality, he remained steadfast and never gave up hope.
Loving son, devoted father, committed brother, one-of-a-kind uncle, awesome cousin, and loyal friend, Jervis cherished every moment of his life and greeted each day with a smile. His love for family and friends was infinite and he looked forward to gatherings that brought them together in love and harmony.
He enjoyed music, was an exceptional cook, and he truly loved traveling all across the United States; thereby, earning him the nickname "Road Runner". Jervis will long be remembered as a dreamer and good-hearted individual with a warm smile, encouraging words, and a keen sense of humor.
On , January 10, 2024, Jervis transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest. Although his departure leaves a void, the memory of his wonderful life will forever remain in our hearts.
Jervis is survived by his mother, Bessie Robinson; his children, Jernell Tookes-Young (Maurice) and Jervis Lamar Tookes, Jr.; grandchildren, Zemira Smith and Riley Blakely; siblings, Michael Tookes, Stacy Frazier, Tomeka Tookes, Tiffany Hamilton, and Tonya Cason; aunts and uncles, Teresa Walker, Tangela Walker, Leroy Walker, Joseph Walker, and William Walker; one bonus daughter, Altoneyce Leatherwood; three bonus grandchildren, Melody, Blessing, and Angel; a best friend, Ulysses Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
