IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jessie Mae
Payton
May 2, 1928 – December 14, 2022
Jessie Mae Payton was born in Albany, Georgia on May 2, 1928. She was the beloved daughter of the late Noah and Emily Thomas. During the early years of her life, she received education from the Dougherty County School System.
As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Second Mt Zion Baptist Church where she served faithfully.
She was one of the oldest members of the church. She dearly loved the Lord, her pastor, first lady and her church family.
Jessie was a loving and caring mother who looked well to the ways of her household. As a homemaker, she diligently cared for the needs of her family. She was blessed not only with children, but grandchildren who were a source of joy and pride in her life. The family shared many precious
moments together and truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of
life.
Devoted wife, loving mother, affectionate grandmother, unfailing sister, caring auntie, and loyal friend; Jessie was a good-natured, generous woman with a big heart. She embraced life with open arms and believed deeply in unconditional love.
Jessie enjoyed spending time with family and helping anyone who was in need. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening, and cooking pies. Her one-of-a-kind personality attracted a wide circle of people who were the recipients of a long and lasting friendship. Her love for family and their
love for her will forever be treasured.
On December 14, 2022, Jessie's earthly journey ended, and she transitioned to eternal rest. In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Payton Sr., six children, Nellie Virginia Miller, Henry Payton, Verna Peterson-Holiday, Bennie Payton, Jr.,
Katherine Gail Payton, and David Payton Sr., and 12 siblings.
