IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jewel Atkins,
Jr.
October 1, 1957 – October 25, 2021
Jewel Atkins, Jr., beloved son of Jewel Atkins, Sr. and the late Catherine Everett, was born in Tampa, Florida on October 1, 1957.
He received his formal education in the Hillsboro County School System and was active in various student activities and events.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a faithful member of New Covenant Baptist Church until his health declined. Jewel dearly loved the Lord and remained prayerful throughout life's journey.
Jewel was a conscientious, hardworking individual who looked well to the ways of his household. As a husband and father, he took great care in providing for the needs of his family through his employment with the Hillsboro County School System. He was a loyal, dedicated employee who tackled every task with equal importance and gave his very BEST. In later years after relocating to Albany, he joined the ranks of employees at Cagles where he labored untiringly and took great pride in his work.
A man of principle and simplicity, Jewel loved his family unconditionally; never met a stranger; stood ready to help anyone in need; and always looked for the good in people. He had a big heart, gave of himself freely, and will be deeply missed by family and friends who loved him dearly.
On October 25, 2021, Jewel transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Anthony Sutton, Jonathon Sutton, and Victoria Myers.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his wife, Jeanette Atkins of Tampa, FL; his children, Maurice Hayes, Jewel Atkins II, Tiatasha (Everette) Brown, and Lakisha Atkins of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren all of Tampa, FL; siblings, Robert (Gloria) Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Andre Davis, Thaddis Sutton, Jeanette McDowell, Barbara Hall, Charlene Everette, and Angelette Harvey all of Tampa, FL, and Cherry Jenkins, Lenora Davis, and Betty Everette all of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
