IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmie Ruth
Brantley
January 7, 1940 – August 3, 2023
The season of life for Jimmie Ruth Brantley began on January 7, 1940, in Sasser, Georgia. She was the youngest daughter of the late Katie Lou Weston.
She received her formal education in the Terrell County School System. Throughout school, she had a zeal for learning and was a ray of sunshine to teachers, classmates, and close friends.
Jimmie was raised in a Christian home where she was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong values, and loving kindness. She was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she availed herself in a lifetime of Christian stewardship and service. "Ms. Tammie" as she was endearingly called, was a prayer warrior who was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord. Her faith and trust in God guided her life and allowed her to be an example for family, friends, and all who encountered her.
On July 6, 1956, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Brantley. Their union endured for 67 years while honoring their vows to love and cherish each other. As a wife, mother, and homemaker, Ms. Tammie ate not the bread of idleness and often sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Her diligence in caring for her husband and children was the personification of a Proverbs 31 Woman, "A wife of noble character whose worth was far above rubies….her children rose up and called her blessed."
Blessed beyond measure, Ms. Tammie had a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 83; and lived to see generations of her off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, and godliness. She had a servant's heart, a warm and welcoming spirit, and took great pride in using her God-given talents to help others. One of her greatest pleasures in life was spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered as an unselfish servant who never met a stranger, and a woman of God with a sweet, sweet spirit.
On August 3, 2023, Mrs. Brantley faced the sunset of her earthly season as she transitioned to be with the Lord. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Cheatham; and two sisters, Mary Montgomery and Pauline Kemp.
She leaves beautiful memories that will forever remain with her beloved husband, Robert L. Brantley of Albany, GA; her children, Deacon Roy (Teletrice) Brantley, Cedric (Regina) Brantley, Teresa (Tarrance) Williams, and Kwanis (Michael) Brantley-Malone all of Albany, GA, James (Carrie) Brantley of Tallahassee, FL, Antonio Brantley of Atlanta, GA, Sondra (Patrick) Lee of Jacksonville, FL, Shartia Brantley (Musa) of New York, and Willie Jean Grier of Dawson, GA; a first cousin/brother, Willie C. Weston of Dawson, GA; sister-in-law, Rubie Marshall of Albany, GA; nieces, Cheryl Bright, Joyce (Carl) Reed, and Jurie (Ernest) Ross; a myriad of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends
