IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jimmie Mae
Jones
August 2, 1919 – July 1, 2020
Jimmie Mae McDowell Jones was born in Bluffton, Georgia on August 2, 1919. She was the beloved daughter of the late Addie McDowell and the late Lucious Humphrey.
During the early years of her life, she was educated in the Clay County School System.
Jimmie was raised in a Christian home where she was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong character, and kindness. As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Friendship Baptist Church for a lifetime of Christian stewardship. Through the years, she was a faithful, dedicated member who willingly served in numerous capacities wherever needed. "Mother Jones" as she was endearingly called by many, was a prayer warrior who was strong in her faith, in character, and in wisdom. She was a shining example of humility and respect, and God's love for all mankind was manifested through her deeds and actions.
She was united in marriage to her life-long mate, Willie Jones, Sr. Together, they embarked on a life filled with love and true devotion to each other. Through the years, she proved to be a true anchor and helpmate to her husband. Domestic at heart, she was unwavering in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love, joy, and strong values. As a wife and mother, she ate not the bread of idleness and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.
Blessed beyond measure, Mother Jones lived a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 101; and lived to see generations of her off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, and godliness. She had a servant's heart and took great pride in using her God-given talents to help others. To the hungry, she offered food; to the sick, she offered compassion; to the broken hearted, she offered consolation, and to the lost, she offered hope and guidance. She had a passion for gardening, flowers, quilting, and baking delicious cakes. She will be remembered by many as an unselfish servant with a sweet spirit.
On July 1, 2020, Mother Jones quietly departed this earthly life at Pruitt Health Care. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Willie Jones, Sr. and three children, Willie Jones, Jr., Helen Jones, and Freddie B. Jones.
She leaves loving memories that will forever remain with her children, Katie Smith and Charles (Gloria) Jones of Houston, TX, Irene Washington of Leesburg, GA, Marcellus Jones of Cocoa, FL, Elaine Jackson of Albany, GA, Lucious Jones of Las Vegas, NV, Patricia (Calvin) Jones-Wallace of Alexandria, VA, Ida (William) Jones-Render of Atlanta, GA, Linda Jones of Ft. Meade, MD, and Curtis Wade; a devoted sister, Nita (Willie) Harrison of Leesburg, GA; 29 grandchildren and 59great grandchildren; a granddog, Buster; and a host of other relatives, extended family, and friends.
