Obituary

Jimmy Davis Jones, son of the late Jimmy Lee Jones, Sr. and the late Johnnie Mae Jones, was born in Albany, Georgia on June 9, 1945. He was the third of twelve children.

He received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County and actively participated in various school organizations and events.

During his early years, he attended Independent Holiness Deliverance Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon, a bus driver, and he will-ingly assisted wherever needed in the church. In later years, he was add-ed to the body of River Road (now Gaines Avenue) Church of Christ.

Jimmy was a very persistent individual whose professional work life was very diverse and rewarding. He was employed at Coats and Clark of Albany for many years and later retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber company. Very early in life, Jimmy developed a passion for working on cars. Over the years, he mastered the skills necessary to become an A-1 mechanic. His drive and ambition spurred him to open his automotive repair shop on Newton Road where he performed miracles on countless cars—many of which people had just written off as worthless. No matter what the task, he took great pride in his work and his mechanical abili-ties. He found great joy ad solace in his life-long passion.

"JD" as he was affectionately called, loved his family, treasured his friends, and was always "on call" to help anyone in need. He had a big heart for all things in life. Jimmy was the best son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend that anyone could ever be fortunate enough to ever have. Along with his ability to laugh and love uncondi-tionally, he was the confidant and acceptor of people as they were. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

A Time to Let Go and Let God…..On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, Jimmy's earthly journey ended and our Lord and Savior called him home to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Peggy Louise Cooks, Mary Lois Clark, and Jimmy Jones, Jr.

Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of his children, Russell Malone of Englewood, NJ, and Stanley Jones, Felicia (Ronald) Campbell, Tametrice Jones, and Ricardo (Katherine) Jones of Albany, GA; eight siblings, Willie C. Jones. Charles Jones, Mary Dollison, Annie Bert (Ben) Lunsford, Eula L. (Jimmy) Lewis, Debbie (Gilbert) Tyler, Janice Bells, and Aranita Timmons; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
