Jimmy Lee Roberts, Jr., son of the late Hattie Elizabeth Roberts and Jimmy Lee Roberts, Sr., was born in Albany, Georgia on June 8, 1944.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County where he was active in various school functions and activities. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Jimmy held fast to his belief that work is honorable. He devoted much of his time and energy engaging in construction-related employment opportunities. As a construction worker, he tackled each assignment with equal importance and prided himself in a job "well done." Many lasting friendships grew from his work in the industry.
"Bubba or Uncle Luke" as he was affectionately called, was a gentle giant with a big heart. He embraced opportunities and the chance to experience life with open arms, and was a protector for anyone who needed him You couldn't know him without being inspired by his love and devotion. Jimmy enjoyed being active and had many and varied interests during his life. He was an avid sports fan—from the Atlanta Braves, the Falcons, and the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia teams were in his veins! Family was most important to Jimmy and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. His smile, laughter, and imagination captured the attention of many, and his loss has been a great sorrow to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
On Thursday, January 11, 2018, Jimmy's earthly journey ended as he quietly entered into eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, E. Elizabeth Bradley and his brother, Lee James Roberts.
Fond memories will forever be cherished by his devoted wife, Christine Roberts of Albany, GA; four children, Reginald (Alfreda) Harris, Sr. of Spokane, WA, Melvin (Dieudonna) Harris, Alfreda Berry, and Erica S. Jones all of Albany, GA two siblings, Earl Roberts and Lilly C. Roberts; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
