Joann King was born in Albany, Georgia on March 25, 1965. She was the beloved daughter of Mary King and Peter Miller.

She attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Westover High School and graduated in the class of 1983. While at Westover, she was actively involved in numerous school functions and activities.

At a very early age, Joann heeded the call of Christ and united with the Mt. Holder Baptist Church. She dearly loved the Lord and was a faithful servant for many years.

Joann was a beautiful, free spirited individual who bravely walked to the beat of her own drum. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and loyal friend who found beauty in everything and the good in everyone. She had a glowing personality that would lift your spirits and brighten your day. Joann was a very gentle-hearted person who embraced life's experiences with open arms. She truly enjoyed traveling and the comradery that she shared with her friends of the National Federation of the Blind organization. She had kindness of heart that will always be remembered.

On Sunday, June 17, 2018, the circle of Joann's life ended and she transitioned to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Julius Charles Garner, Jr.; and her sister, Marilyn Williams.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her parents, Mary King Garner and Peter (Lillian) Miller of Albany, GA; siblings, Sudell (Herman) Cowan of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Elnora Jones of Tallahassee, FL, Giselle Speer of Atlanta, GA, Julius Charles (Kawanis) Garner, IV of Leesburg, GA, and Joseph (Jonta) Miller of Atlanta, GA; 14 nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and a host of cousins and friends.
