Joe Lee Hicks, Jr. was born in Albany, Georgia on July 4, 1951. He was the son of the late Joe and Annie Hicks.
During the early years of his life, he attended the public schools of Terrell and Dougherty Counties. He continued his education at the Dental Assisting School in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated as a Certified Dental Technician.
After receiving the "call for military service", Joe enlisted in the United States Navy where he served courageously and was honorably discharged upon completion of his tour of duty. He returned to civilian life to further his career as a Dental Technologist. While working in this capacity, he constructed custom restorative and dental devices.
Cadillac , as he was fondly called, wore many hats in his lifetime. He was an incredible son, brother, uncle, cousin, and most importantly, father. He loved his family and would do anything in his power to help them. Cadillac was a selfless person who was devoted to his family and friends, willingly helped others, and touched the lives of people around him in a very special way.
On Monday, May 1, 2017, Joe quietly entered into eternal rest. He will be deeply missed, but his memories will live on in the hearts of his son, Nakia Cartwright; two grandchildren; brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; and a multitude of cousins, extended family, and friends.
