Retired Staff Sergeant John Henry Blunt, son of the late Johnny Lee and Martha Ella Blount, was born in Albany, Georgia on January 25, 1955.

He received his early childhood and secondary education in the Dougherty County School System. Throughout school, he was a very inquisitive young man who garnered much from his educational experiences while actively participating in various student organizations and activities.

In 1974, John enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed throughout the United States and abroad, and served his country with distinction. A soldier to the core, John was the recipient of numerous awards and commendations as he advanced to the rank of Staff Sergeant. At the close of his final military assignment, he was recognized for his valiant years of active duty service, received an honorable discharge, and returned to civilian life.

John was not only a brave and loyal solider, but a patient and loving husband as well. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lori Ann. They shared a love that knew no boundaries and was unshakeable. John was profoundly devoted to his wife, "Shorty" and was a loving and supportive father who, through the years, brought perfect balance in his children's lives. As a father and grandfather, he was a gentle but stern disciplinarian who taught his children to be respectful and kind. Family was paramount in his life.

Affectionately known to many as Pop John Henry and Uncle Blunt by many, John was an incredible brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who loved the people in his life with heartfelt sincerity. He put passion into fostering relationships; adored spending time with family and
friends; was welcoiming to everyone and considered no one a stranger; and was always willing to lend a helping hand. The strong bonds of friendship that he developed throughout his life will forever be cherished and remembered.

On March 27, 2023 Ret. Ssg. John/Pop John Henry/Uncle Blunt transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Imarah Rockie Lee; his grandson, Jayvion Parker; and three siblings, Evelyn Bell, Eddie Harris, and Arthur Harris.
Loving Memories will forever remain with his beloved wife, Lori Ann Blunt; his children, Jondra Lakeshia (Chris) Jones of Killen, TX, Brian (Yolanda) Blunt of Columbus, GA, and Shelieta (Victoria)Bronaugh and Jamarcus (Imani) Blunt both of Hoskinsville, KY; four
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; siblings, Elder Dorothy Whitfield, David Harris, Tommy Harris, and William Harris; his best friend, Reginald Toson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
