John "Preacher" Lewis was born on January 22, 1950, in Terrell County, Georgia. He was the eleventh child born to the union of the late Angel Lewis and Anna Shingles Lewis.
At an early age, John accepted Christ and remained a man of great faith throughout his life.
John attended Monroe High School. He began his career at M&M Mars, Inc., where he worked for five years before joining Miller Brewing Company He dedicated 32 years of service to the company, earned numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding work, and retired in 2012.
John was united in holy matrimony to Ada Henderson, and together they raised two daughters. He was a devoted husband father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. His warm heart will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
On June 9, 2025, John departed this life to meet his Savior. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kate Parker, Eula Pearl Thomas, Clarence Lewis, Henry Lewis, Willie C. Lewis, William Lewis, and W. C. Green.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his loving wife, Ada Lewis; daughters, Dr. Aricia Thrasher and Stacy Lewis; siblings, Dennie M. Cross, Alton Lewis, Alex (Ethel) Lewis, and Ben Lewis; grandchildren, Brandon Chambers, Zion King, Zorya King, Zorian King, Brooke Thrasher, and Zaileigh Westbrook; a special niece, Ashley Evans; a special nephew, Mike McCoy; and a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
