IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John E.
Mccoy
September 1, 1919 – December 1, 2020
John E. McCoy was born September 1 1919, in Americus, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late John and Lula McCoy.
During the early years of his life, he attended the public schools of Sumter County.
At a very early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a very humble man who loved telling everyone about the goodness of God. Throughout life, he remained prayerful and steadfast in his daily walk.
John/Uncle John/Mr. John, as he was lovingly called, was an extremely conscientious individual who gave his best at whatever he did. He was employed at Georgia Power for more than 60 years, utilizing his talents and abilities to provide unparalleled service until his retirement. Over the years, he made many lasting friendships through his employment that will long be remembered.
In 1967, he was joined in marriage to Alma G. Holmes. Their union endured through the years as they honored their vows to love and cherish each other. He was a great husband and faithful provider for his wife. Family was paramount to John and he enjoyed the love and company of his siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins who were often the benefactors of his guidance and generosity.
Blessed beyond measure, John was a very genuine man who reached the hallowed age of 101. Oftentimes during his life, he reminisced about his childhood and humble beginnings. He was a great storyteller and could keep you spellbound with his recollections. He greeted each day with a smile and touched the lives of many with his kind words and congenial spirit. Truly, he was a man of unmatched integrity.
On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, John/Uncle John/Mr. John made a peaceful transition to his eternal home. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Alma Holmes McCoy.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his devoted niece and primary caregiver, Deborah Teasley; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his secondary caregiver, Richard Allen.
