John Davis Reed Sr. was born in Blakely, Georgia on November 02, 1946. He was the son of the late D.W. Reed and Pearl Moreland.

He received his formal education at Monroe High School. He retired from Bob's Candy Company after 30 years of hard work.

John was a loving, devoted husband and father whose wife, children and grandchildren were the center of his life. He strongly believed in family ties and showing unconditional love. He always gave himself freely and took part in special events that kept the family together. "Mr. John Reed" as he was affectionately called, embraced life with open arms and a big smile. His warm and amazing personality readily captured the attention of everyone around him. The strong bonds of love and friendship that he developed over the years will always be remembered.

On Saturday September 23, 2023, John Sr, transitioned from this life's earthly season. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Bernard Mills Jr.

Precious memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Gussie Reed of 62 years, his children John D. Reed Jr. (Angela) of Marietta, Georgia, Pearlene Reed Mills (Bernard), Lisa Reed Loud (Curtis) of Albany, Georgia, Linda Reed Miranda (Israel), Antonio Reed (Brandi) both of Atlanta, Georgia. Grandchildren David Allen (Cayla), Breanna Mills, Iris Estrada (Abdul), John D. Reed III, Daquan Reed, Toni Hall, Josh Miranda (Jessica),Kayla Miranda, Nia Reed, Ladashia Loud, Bryon Reed, siblings Floyd Stewart (Jeanie), Troy Stewart Jr, and a host
of great grandchildren nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friend.
