Obituary

John Henry Taylor, Jr., son of the late Rushie B. Harold and Johnson Taylor, Sr., was born in Terrell County, Georgia on November 29, 1946.

He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System and was active in numerous school organizations and activities.

After receiving the call to military duty in 1967, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he became a "soldier to the core." He served his country honorably and notably in the Vietnam War in support of infantry operations. The military suited his sense of order and his code of loyalty; and he discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as friends and family can attest. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion and the Veterans Assistance Office in Albany.

John was profoundly devoted to his family and friends. He was a supportive and devoted husband who through the years brought the perfect balance in his endearing marriage. As a father and grandfather, he was a gentle but stern disciplinarian who taught his children to be respectful and kind. He was an incredible brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who loved the people in his life with heartfelt sincerity and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a good man who set so many examples. Often, he reminded us that "Only the Strong Survive" as he reminisced about the battles of Wolf Creek Pass and Pagosa Springs. "Uncle Bruh, John Taylor, JT, and Baby Bruh" as he was affectionately called, touched the lives of people around him in a very special way. He will be deeply missed by family and friends who dearly loved him.

On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, John's earthly journey ended and he entered into eternal est. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin E. Jefferson and Clarence Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his life and memory a loving a devoted wife, Annie Taylor; four daughters, Lawanda Henderson, Sigournia Hollis, Shontae Clay, and Tamekal Corbett; five grandchildren, Cynthiavanntia Henderson, Tywanna Starling, Tyren Starling, Jo'Vion Henderson, and Rayn Shorters; two great great nephews, Siroyea Strawder and Roylen Strawder; ten siblings, Charlie B.
