IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnnie Mae
Figgins Taylor
August 28, 1944 – May 12, 2017
Johnnie Mae Figgins Taylor was born on August 28, 1944, in Leary, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Clarence (Helen) Figgins and Winnie Jackson Sipp.
She attended the public schools of Calhoun County, including H. T. Singleton High School where she was actively involved in many school activities.
At a very early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member until her health declined.
She was united in holy matrimony to her beloved Clarence Taylor, Sr.—a union that endured through the years and stood the test of time. As a wife, mother, homemaker, and talented seamstress, she was diligent in caring for the needs of her family. Her sewing skills were put to task through her employment at Ames Manufacturing of Arlington, Georgia and Newton Manufacturing of Baker County. She retired after many years of loyal and dedicated service.
Johnnie Mae had many passions in her life and was always busy pursuing them. She was an exceptional cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. But her greatest delight was being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was truly an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
On Friday, May 12, 2017, Johnnie Mae's earthly journey ended and she entered into eternal rest. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Taylor, Sr.; two children, Faye Favors and Jimmy Lee Figgins; and three brothers, Wilmon Jackson, Willie James Figgins, and James Wiley.
She leaves to cherish fond memories four devoted children, Jerome (Raysene) Bethel of Morgan, GA, Barbara (Jimmy) George of Damascus, GA, Clarence (Cynthia) Taylor, Jr. of Albany, GA, and Michael Taylor of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren who were raised as her own, Tremonica, Tremekia, Tremenicia, Fayette, Nikillya, Dontavious, and Quenton; twelve siblings, Clarence Figgins of Rochester, NY, Charles Figgins, Dorothy Gray, and Betty Figgins of Orlando, FL, Johnny Figgins of Morgan, GA, Jerry Figgins and Fantella Coleman of Albany, GA, Tony Figgins of Alabama, Carrie Figgins of Atlanta, GA, and Lisa Figgins, John Wiley, and Cleveland Wiley of Leary, GA; twenty-two grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
