IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johnnie B.
Hudley
January 22, 1943 – November 28, 2022
The dawn of life for Johnnie B Hudley began on January 22, 1943, in Albany, Georgia. He was the oldest of Jessie Mae Covin's two children and brother to Sallie Ruth Odom.
His educational journey would lead him to traverse the hallways of Hazard Training School, Madison Street School, Carver School, then Monroe High School where he participated on the football team and received his high school diploma.
Johnnie B surrendered his life to Christ in July of 1956 at Union Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Reverend W. M. Davis, where he would go to join the Number 2 Choir and hear the call to sit on the Deacon Board. He later united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership and guidance of Reverend Dr. Daniel Simmons.
On December 24, 1976, Johnnie B was united in holy matrimony with the former Miss Geraldine West until he was called to serve on high.
The quiet, humble, kind, compassionate, obedient child, and protective brother grew into a steadfast and diligent man. He would begin to make his way through life working first for Watkins Lumber Yard and then the Firestone Tire and Rubber Plant, where he would frequently make trips to visit family in Cleveland, Ohio on his downtime. After the closing of the Albany Firestone plant, he would seem to find his calling in the transportation department of the Dougherty County School System. His skills as a master transport operator would not only have him being highly requested amongst various traveling school-oriented organizations and sports teams but lead him to having his services requested by Skylight Travel Inc. and Albany State University. He also served as a floor conditioning technician with Bear Bryant Cleaning Services, all the while serving as Covin Draperies' master installer. Working and living as he did would make his settlement into retirement all the more righteous.
The twilight of life for Johnnie came on the evening of November 28, 2022, in the way of a peaceful sleep.
Carrying on in remembrance of him is his loving wife, Geraldine West Hudley; their children, Deron C. Hudley, Jason H. Hudley, Wonderful L. (Ieishia) Hudley, Toshiro S. (Arthur) Stovall, Donchester D. Johnson and Alfredish Westbrook; his sister, Sallie R. (James) Odom; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a godbrother, Alexander Westbrook; special nieces and nephews, Derrick Odom, Daphne O. Brooks, Erica D. Potts, and Eric E. Raines; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
