I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." II Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)
Johnnie Mae King Jones, daughter of the late Will and Eula King, was born in Oakfield, Georgia on April 24, 1922.
During the early years of her life, she attended the public schools of Worth County until she was inclined to use her God-given talents of cooking and sewing to help provide for her family.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Jimmy Lee Jones, Sr., in 1941. With this union, they became the loving parents of twelve children, and they were blessed with many happy years. As a wife and mother, she was a persistent, hardworking individual who ate not the bread of idleness. She was an incredibly talented and zealous cook whose skills were put to test in the Dougherty County School System's Child Nutrition Program. Over the years, she took great pride in ensuring that children and staff were provided nutritious and delicious meals. She retired after rendering 20 years of loyal and dedicated service.
In 1982, she became a member of the Lord's Church where she remained faithful until death. Her consecrated commitment and dedication were the cornerstones of who she was.
"Muh" as she was affectionately called by many, was a strong but gentle woman with a servant's heart. She was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things, accepted everyone for who they were, and openly welcomed them into her heart and home. She believed strongly in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping others—never asking anything in return. Her friendliness and kindness to all people are lasting tributes to the beauty of her heart and soul. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and calling her friend.
On Wednesday, God saw fit to bring Muh Jones' 96-year journey to a close and transitioned her to eternal rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Lee Jones, Sr.; two daughters, Louise Cook and Mary Lois Clark; and eight siblings, Marjorie Card, Quincy King, Claude King, Norman King, Jossie Jones, Willie Lee King, Lois Mathis, and Brenda Whitaker.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her devoted children, Mary Lee Dollison, Jimmy D. Jones, Annie (Ben) Lunsford, Jimmy L. (Earlene) Jones, Eula (Jimmy) Lewis, Debbie (Gilbert) Tyler, Charles (Joyce) Jones, Janice Bells, and Octavious J. (Shekila) Jones, Sr. all of Albany, GA, Willie C. (Marie) Jones of Dacula, GA, and Aranita Jones Timmons of Dallas, GA; twenty-five grandchildren; a myriad of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
