Obituary

A busy life came to a close on June 29, 2018, when Ms. Johnnie Mae White was called home to be with the Lord. She was born in Albany, Georgia on May 9, 1926 to the late Adonald and Mattie White.

During the early years of her life, Johnnie was educated in the Dougherty County School System.

She was united in marriage to Charles Cox who preceded her in death. While no children were born to this union, many nieces and nephews were the benefactors of her love, guidance, wisdom, and strength.

Johnnie was an extremely conscientious individual who was passionate about her work. For more than 25 years, she worked as a laundry technician at Highland View Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. No matter what the task, she worked tirelessly to ensure that nothing was left undone. After retiring, she moved back to Albany, Georgia where she resided until her demise.

Always gentle, kind, and personable, Johnnie was loved by all who had the privilege of having her in their lives. She was considered by many as a wise and trusted counsel, a difference maker, and a strong but humble person who will be missed dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sisters, Mattie (John) Gulley and Oretha Whitehead of Albany, GA; six nephews, Arthur Lowe, Lionel Dennis, Leon Dent, Alex Dent, Latents Dent, and Larry Dent; three nieces, Yvonne Mweleka, Phyllis Kidd, and Tejuanda Whitehead; and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends who mourn her passing.
